Cornwall’s leading film production company is expanding! Because we have taken on two new camera operators / video editors. Both are Falmouth University students.
Finn Apps
Finn Apps is a second year undergraduate. He’s studying on the Marine and Natural History Photography course. As Finn is a keen diver he fits in well. Finn will be working with us through the long summer vacation starting early May. He is also hoping to give up his pub job and fund his final year working odd days with us when needed.
Sam Melvin
Sam Melvin, originally from Hertfordshire, did his degree in Film Studies at Exeter University. And he is now living in Falmouth studying an MA in Film & Television. Sam will finish his post graduate studies in July. He is then joining us on a six month contract. His principal job will be working on our new Shark Bay Films three part documentary series. Entitled “Pacific Conflict – Remains of War”, the series looks at the history of that conflict through the shipwrecks and wartime archaeology of the region.
Sam has a particular expertise in lighting film sets, as you might have guessed from his profile pic!
Summer project
And both Finn and Sam are keen for this summer’s project for Motor Boats and Yachting magazine. We are producing a series of magazine articles. These will chronicle a boat voyage from Cornwall to the very northernmost Shetland Isles. This is the latest in a long series of features and marine videos for the magazine.
Plus both are also surfers, so Fionn will be introducing them to our Porthleven surf break. They can watch the waves from their edit suites in our studio!
Working with Falmouth University
We have a long history of working with Falmouth University and supporting their students. Because we have employed several over the years. Plus we get others involved in our projects in a variety of roles. Everything from actors, make-up, prosthetics, lighting…
So we hope that both Sam and Finn will really enjoy their time with Cornwall’s leading film production company.
