We have considerable experience of tourism filming in Cornwall. But this was an especially unique assignment.

Flambards Amusement Park in Helston closed in 2024 after being a family favourite for almost 50 years. One of the park’s most unique attractions was the Victorian Village.

Potential auction breaking up the collection

It had been feared that the whole collection would be broken up and sold as individual lots in a scheduled auction and the whole unique collection would be lost for ever… Until Kynren purchased the entire village. Every single item – shop fronts, each individual exhibit – even the cobwebs! The Victorian Village was saved!

Following which, after extensive photography to record the exhibits, the whole village is was meticulously dismantled piece by piece.

A colossal undertaking

It was a colossal undertaking.  Every brick and cobblestone was numbered so they could be precisely re-instated. Because the whole collection was then transported to Bishop Auckland in County Durham. And there when rebuilt it will form part of Kynren’s Storied Lands attraction – the UK’s first live-action historical theme park.

Totally authentic streets

The village featured more than 50 sets and scenes with authentic shopfronts and interiors.

Cornwall - filming tourist attractions

The grocery store

Every item genuine historical artefacts

Altogether 1600 items lovingly collected over the years were set to be sold as individual items at auction. Every item was a genuine artefact from Victorian days. In the tobacconists packs of cigarettes from those days.

Time lapse filming

The Chemist’s shop was a particular challenge, containing so many individual items. Probably one of the most unique exhibit. So one of our jobs was to produce a timelapse sequence showing the whole process.

A totally unique Cornish filming assignment

Our work load is varied and interesting. However we have never had a tourism filming in Cornwall project quite like this.
