We’ve had previous experiences doing theatrical filming in Cornwall. Including several film projects at the Minack over the years. But never anything like filming and producing “Invisibles”.
Location scouting in Cornwall
It all started when Peter van der Walt approached us to scout for a location to shoot a horror short film. Peter is already a successful author and film maker. But this was a step into a new genre for him.
We provided various possible locations. However Peter was totally taken by the old net loft in Porthleven. The perfect blank canvas.
Other locations we found were a convenience store in Marazion and various street locations around Porthleven. Peter selected other locations in Plymouth that highlighted urben decay.
Producer and camera crew
Peter wanted to source a local camera crew, so it ended up with Crow Creative providing the film crew. John Boyle as Co-producer, Fionn Crow as Director of Photography, and Finn Apps as camera assistant. Plus our intern Sam Melvin as lighting engineer.
Actors, make up and lighting
Peter already had his principal character, but needed a second principal plus support actors. We put out casting calls, assessed the applicants and their audition tapes, and reported to Peter. And it was our own River Owsley-Brown who Peter selected as second principal actor.
Filming in various locations
In addition to filming in the net loft we shot in other locations both indoors and outdoors. Plus Fionn spent a day filming in Plymouth.
The final film.
And here’s a link to the final film . I think you will agree that it is both intriguing and gripping.
We are really looking forward to working on theatrical filming in Cornwall with Peter on his next production.
