Covid meant quiet times for us as the leading Cornish documentary film producers. But we are now back in our stride!
We have two personas. Crow Creative is our commercial film production persona. While Shark Bay Films is our marine and documentary film production persona. Same people, same studio, same kit – just two very different trading identities.
And Shark Bay have had two very exciting projects recently.
South West Ireland
This summer we took our 39 foot motor cruiser Cecienne to explore Ireland’s south-west coast. The weather was gorgeous. The scenery was stunning. The people so lovely and welcoming. And the food and Guinness were awesome. This was the latest of our annual filming assignments for Motor Boat and Yachting magazine. We have delivered a suite of three magazine articles and accompanying videos about the trip. So here is the first of those videos
Sunken Japanese Fleet in Palau
Meanwhile we were planning an even more exciting trip. Following on the success of our Truk Lagoon film we headed off to film another WW2 sunken Japanese fleet in the Palau Islands. The now sleepy and peaceful country was one of the key points of the Pacific War. It was both a major naval staging post and had a strategically vital airfield. The Americans launched carrier based air raids which sunk many ships in the lagoon. Today these lie on the sea floor virtually intact, and an amazing filming subject.
Remains of war on land
While on the tiny island of Peleliu – just 5 miles square, – some of the fiercest fighting of the Pacific War took place. It took the US Marines almost 3 months to take the island. The Japanese fought to the last man – virtually the entire Japanese garrison of 11,000 was wiped out. As a result the jungle is littered with the relics of war. Wrecked tanks, artillery pieces, a huge Japanese cave system…
We are currently working on the edit of the film for release early 2023.
So maybe you can see why we claim to be he leading Cornish documentary film producers!
