We get some interesting requests as Cornwall filming location specialists. But this was one of the more intriguing ones!

Martin Clunes

Martin Clunes is working on a new series.  He has already made a name for himself as a travel documentary presenter. His “Islands of Britain ” was followed up by “Islands of Australia”. His next project was his “Islands of the Pacific” mini series. And he is now working on a second series in the Pacific. So who did his producer call for location advice? Yes – you have guessed it! Palau – The Rock Islands

Location advice for filming in the Pacific!

Because we were in Palau filming our own mini series “Remains of War” when they made contact. They planned a shoot themselves in Palau and needed location advice. What was the best way to get to Palau from the UK? Where would we recommend filming? Who should they work with to provide location services in Palau? And would we recommend an underwater cameraman in that country who could film Martin diving on a Second World War shipwreck? Yes, yes, yes – we could help in every way.

Thank you email…

So it was great to receive the following from Martin’s producer.

“Hi John,

Just back after a very successful trip to both Palau and Guam. All the stories stacked up and Martin had an amazing time – especially in Palau – it was a fitting end to the series for us.

I just wanted to thank you for all your advice and recommendations.  It prepared us so well and definitely smoothed out any hiccups that we might have encountered.

We filmed two dives with Martin – one on the Teshio Maru and one with a hawksbill turtle.  We used Kenneth as Martin’s guide and Udi did a good job filming underwater.  Fish n Fins really looked after us.
I was also able to dive on the recce – it was terrific way to pick up Scuba again after a 20 year absence. I think the diving around Palau takes a lot of beating!
Thanks again for your help.  I’ll drop you a line when the series is due to be transmitted next year, just in case you can catch it.
Good luck with all your filming projects and a have a very merry Christmas.
Kindest regards,
Russell”
