Multi camera concert video for the Oggymen at the Minack Theatre performing their rendition of Solomon Browne.
Solomon Browne
On 19 December 1981, the crew of the Penlee lifeboat Solomon Browne were lost attempting to rescue the crew and passengers onboard a stricken coaster the Union Star. Seth Lakeman wrote the song Solomon Browne in its memory.
A very harrowing documentary to tell you more about this tragedy can be found here
In the Lifeboat station you can still find the tobacco boxes and mugs from the crew; the hammer to launch the boat and tools, all untouched since that fateful day.
Oggymen performed their heartfelt homage to the Penlee Lifeboat disaster 41 years on.
Multi Camera Concert Video
We travelled to the acclaimed Minack Theatre to film the Oggymen concert. We shot the video with 5 cameras. With drone and a roaming camera. Created a cinematic edit for the 9 strong band of Oggymen. The quick turnaround edit has received a fantastic response on social media and we all think that we did a good job to pay our respects for those lost at sea and their families.
John Dowling an exceptional banjo player too, who we’ve worked with before, performed in the interval. It was an amazing day for Fionn and River, and all of the singers and staff were lovely and welcoming.
We also made the edits for their biggest hit Cornwall My Home, Whiplash and Song For Cornwall.
The Oggymen are well renowned for their Cornish Folk singing, headlining the Sea Shanty Festival last year, singing at Boardmasters, The Minack Theatre and so much more.
Another project that we’ve been involved with was collaborating with Ocean 3D and the Inclusivity Project. We filmed the capturing of a 3D virtual tour of Penlee Lifeboat Station last year and were astounded at the starkness of the place.
Thanks Oggymen, can’t wait for what’s next…
