Cornwall filming career highspots? So what have been the most memorable moments in our long filming careers in Cornwall? There have been so many it’s hard to decide.
Winning international awards
Winning a double Palme d’Or at the World Underwater Film Festival at Antibes takes some beating. A double never before achieved by any film maker in the long history of the festival.
Tourism promotional filming
Or would it be producing all Seychelles tourism promotional videos for several years? And then filming and delivering Papua New Guinea’s first ever tourism promotional DVD – in several languages including Japanese and Chinese!
Amazing wildlife encounters
Some of the wildlife encounters we have enjoyed filming must be included. Filming thousands of turtles coming ashore on a Pacific beach. Being the first people ever to film whale sharks underwater at night. Capturing the intriguing behaviour of cryptic macro creatures in Indonesia’s seas. Or filming never seen before behaviour of a crocodile seizing a hutia in a Cuban mangrove forest…
Pirates and Presidents
Making a documentary about Somali pirates was an unforgettable experience – as was having the follow-up book feature in the non fiction best sellers list.
We also produced all video content in three successful election campaigns for the President of Seychelles!
Marine filming adventures
Our marine filming adventures have also been thrilling. We have produced series of magazine articles and accompanying videos for two national magazines about these. We have circumnavigated the British Isles, taken the boat from Africa to Norway’s Arctic Circle, and even voyaged through the Baltic Sea to St Petersburg in Russia.
Fun projects
While closer to home every day can bring new fun projects. Like filming the Virgin Orbit launch from Newquay Airport. At the Eden Sessions Fionn has filmed some of the planet’s top music stars. Producing course videos for every Falmouth University undergraduate course was another once-in-a-career highlight. As indeed was location scouting in Cornwall for a Hollywood movie…
Every day job enjoyment
Yet sometimes it’s just the apparently ordinary day’s work that is the most fun. The people that we meet and work with in Cornwall, filming their work, projects, and achievements is a daily pleasure. And delivering a finished film to an appreciative happy client – that’s a buzz from the job that is hard to equal.
So yes – we’ve had some high profile jobs, achievements, and adventures. But every day’s work can be just as much fun and equally satisfying. Just a few examples out of many of our Cornwall filming career highspots.
