Multiple International Awards

Because as Shark Bay Films, we have won over 60 international awards for our work. Perhaps the most prestigious of these was at the Antibes World Underwater Film Festival.  There we won a double Palme d’Or. The Golden Palm. Never before in the 40 year history of the festival had two films by the same producer shared the award.

In fact John often sits on the judging panel at film festivals. So he really knows what is needed to make a good film great.

Which may help to explain that National Geographic distribute many of our documentaries to television stations worldwide.

Put forward for an EMMY

One of our recent films was even put forward for an EMMY. “Castro’s Secret Reef” was filmed in one of the remotest regions of Cuba. The reef system had been off bounds to fishermen for over 40 years. So the underwater life there was as the Caribbean once was before man made his destructive mark. A fact not lost on Fidel Castro, a passionate scuba diver. The reef became his own personal private diving playground.

We have also played a role in other producers’ films that have won major international awards. We filmed the presenter Richard Peirce’s to camera pieces in Lions, Bones and Bullets. And so helped contribute to the success of this film at the Jackson Hole Film Festival. Against competition that included the BBC and David Attenborough!

Working with Academy Award Winners

We worked with Academy Award winning Slick Films recent short “Leader”. The film has already won the coveted Best Inspirational Film at the Top Shorts Festival. And it continues to pick up awards worldwide. We received several credits on the film. Including Fionn as Underwater Camera Operator. River as 2nd Assistant Camera. John as Location Manager. And Crow Creative as Location Services Provider.
