Many production companies look for camera crew in Cornwall when they have a project here.

Local crew – local knowledge

It makes so much sense. Not only do local crews have valuable local knowledge and connections. But it can save the production company a lot of money. No need for paying travel expenses and mileage to bring crews down from “up country”. No expensive per diems. Nor the need to provide accommodation and subsistence throughout the shoot. Plus the flexibility of a local crew who will be here throughout the shoot and not want to travel home every weekend!

We have recently been involved in several shoots for “up country” production companies filming in Cornwall.

Local crewing for “up country” production companies

One job has been for a BBC series looking at the life of a local fisherman. Filming is following his story. So it requires film crew when there is something of interest happening. Sometimes just a day a week. It would be crazy bringing crew down for just the occasional day of filming.

Another recent job was for a Channel 4 dating show. This is being filmed in locations throughout Britain. This was a tightly planned one day shoot. Again a perfect use of a local camera crew here in Cornwall rather than bringing a crew a return trip of hundreds of miles.

Sometimes we will get several crew enquiries in a week , resulting in some very interesting jobs!

And for international productions

When the American Hallmark Channel decided to film in Cornwall, we were heavily involved. John and Fionn were initially Location Scouts. Then we were appointed Location Managers. While River was recruited into the camera team.

Sometimes the production company is from another country but following a Cornish story. We recently worked delivering footage for an Australian producer on a film about rip currents on surfing beaches around the world. Another job was for a German news corporation who are following the 2nd homes and Airbnb housing crisis here.

Plus we are the Press Association‘s go-to film crew in Cornwall to deliver content at short notice for the national and international news medias.

And if for any reason we can’t cover a job, we can always recommend another camera crew in Cornwall who can.

Plus savings for your budget

The final bonus of using a local crew is that we can provide all kit, rather than it needing to be hired in and shipped down from a facilities house in London, Manchester or Bristol. A massive convenience and a major saving for the production company.
